If you feel like you only have a few things that are ‘not worth much’, or that living outside the central city would be asking me to travel too far, then this service is definitely for you.
You don’t have to own an illustrious art collection to benefit from art hanging services. Many of the pictures I hang for clients are picked up at craft galleries and online marketplaces for a song.
My only concern is to make whatever you have look it’s best on the wall. Even the most ‘average’ artwork can improve a space when hung in the right spot.
It doesn’t matter if you have family photos, a kid’s masterpiece, a Trademe score or an op-shop find; what matters is that the things you love go where they look their best, and I’ll travel pretty far to help make that happen…

I charge by the hour, with a small minimum call-out fee. If you live further afield (such as Wairarapa or Kapiti) I may charge for travel time. Please enquire for up to date rates.

In general I service the Greater Wellington Region including the Wairarapa and Kapiti coast. I will consider travelling anywhere if it’s the right fit.
My hourly rate (in which travel costs are included) starts once I drive further than Upper Hutt or Pukerua Bay,

Yes, as long as I know the particulars of the job, I’ll arrive at your location with everything I need to hang your art.

I try to come prepared for most scenarios, but the main things that are good to know are:
How many pieces you have.
If you have any heavy or over-sized works.
If you have any concrete or old pre-Gib walls to hang on.
If you need something hung up high (such as on a stairwell wall).
If you have any unusual works that need special installation.

If you already know where you want things hung, then I can take it from there and work out exact positions and hang things on my own.
If you want my help working out where things are best hung, then I will normally need someone there to help work that out (holding up and standing back). If you can’t be there for that then let me know and we will work something out.

In most cases yes, there are fixings made for the job. I will weigh your work and use hangers that are made to take the load. Read More.

Yes, I do have hooks that are made to prevent artworks coming off the wall in an earthquake. They are also considered ‘child proof’. Read more.

Yes, I have the technology to fix into concrete, where no dust will be created either. Read more.

Command strips (removable adhesive hooks etc) do work, as long as the weight rating is correct and preparation is done properly.
The issue I have with them is that after a few years the strips don’t remove easily (they tend to snap on removal) and can also leave a yellow stain on the wall, defeating the purpose.
Please let me know if this is a requirement, since I don’t carry much stock.
Pins leave a barely perceivable mark that no one will notice. Obviously this is not an option for heavier works, but it’s amazing what a pin on the 45 degree angle in a wall can hold. I use one on either side of the work (through the eyelets on the back, not the string) and have hung almost an entire house like this.

Yes, this term is sometimes used to refer to an art hanger. I’m also referred to as a painting hanger and a picture hanger. Perhaps art preparator is more accurate, as I use my creative talent and experience to envision layouts that work for every space.
